Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August every year and this time, it falls on August 6. The day marks the importance of friends in our life and celebrates this bond that is so important. Friendship is one of the best relationships we have and many of us have friends who have grown up with us or become close very quickly and now we cannot imagine our life without them. The concept of friendship is universal and there are several sitcoms that are almost entirely based on this bond. We love watching them and still catch the re-runs whenever we feel low are lonely. Here’s our list of the best sitcoms that glorify and celebrate friendship and this Friendship Day, watch one of these with your best buds.
We cannot start this list without naming the all-time favorite sitcom FRIENDS. This iconic sitcom ran for 10 seasons and even though it is long over, its popularity hasn’t died down yet. We still catch an episode or two regularly to relive those amazing moments that the six friends shared in New York. And even though it is an American show, it is pretty relatable worldwide and that has kept it so popular even today.
HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER
Perhaps a more modern day setting of FRIENDS, How I Met Your Mother is also another sitcom that is all about the bond of friendship. The five friends hang out every day in a pub and share stories of their lives that are pretty interesting we must say. Again, based in New York, this one makes you want to go out and chill with your friends more just so that you can make some legendary memories.
PRETTY LITTLE LIARS
Nothing brings a friendship closer together than when it’s wrapped up in secrets, lies, and murder. You and your BFF will spend countless hours trying to decide who’s hotter, Ezra or Toby (it’s Ezra BTW); which characters are actually trustworthy (spoiler alert: none of them); and who the heck “A” really is. (Good luck with that.) Just take this fact to the grave — you’ll both become completely obsessed with the show in no time. Shh, don’t tell anyone.
SEX AND THE CITY
A series that again takes us to New York, Sex, and the City is about a group of four female friends who have different personalities and careers yet are extremely close to each other. They are each other’s support system and share everything about their lives, especially when it comes to their love life. Their trials and tribulations and their love for fashion is something that keeps us glued to this sitcom even today.
This is another show that is best described as a show about nothing because it was just about four friends who discussed life in general in New York. The characters of Seinfeld even though flawed, connected with the audience and that made this show such a hit. Even now, people catch an episode of Seinfeld every now and then.
This British sitcom is about a group of friends and couples who share everything about their lives with each other including sexual problems and failed relationships and their quest to find true love. The comedy of errors and the different personalities of the characters are what make this show interesting and funny.
