Tarun Tahiliani presented ‘Tarkanna’ a couture collection that was inspired by the celestial beauty of the night sky. Tahiliani veteran tag never comes in way of his ability to keep up the present or future. The show went great; right from the music which built up to a crescendo when the show stopper outfit was unveiled to gorgeous décor with hanging light bulbs, everything about it was love. The premise of his couture 2017 collection was in fact back lightness to bridal couture, to make it easier for the bride to dance and enjoy on her wedding day.
While the show started with the lighter occasion wear pieces, the designer highlighted Parsi Gara embroidery silk floss, which was used against a backdrop of neutrals. The next segment was ‘Sindoor’, where he presented his vision for Tarun Tahiliani bride and groom. The brighter hues of reds, pinks, and oranges traditionally worn by brides on Pheras were seen in Sindoor. The last segment of the collection was an ode to the modern look bride, who isn’t weighted down by the opinions of others.
The designer worked with crystals by Swarovski to create lighter embellished pieces. Tahiliani expressed his idea of the modern Indian bride by bringing in off- shoulder, cap sleeves and in the case of stunning closing look, a sheer bodice with sparkling crystals. Tahiliani proved that he continues to be a master of the drapes throughout the years.
