Shaandaar Shahid Kapoor, The Only Reason To Go For This Movie

Movie Review: Shaandaar
Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Pankaj Kapoor, Sushma Seth, Sana Kapoor
Director: Vikas Bahl

After the huge success of Queen and winning the array of awards for it, director Vikas Bahl is back on silver screen with his latest release ‘Shaandar’. This is the first ever Bollywood movie based on a destination wedding.

The story of the movie begins with the nuptials between the two opulent Indian families in Europe. Among them, one is Arora family who served nobility in past and is now suffering from the ignominy of quest for Bollywood wedding location. In Arora house, everything is monarch by matriarch Dadi (Sushma Seth) who decides to wed her plump granddaughter Isha (Sanah Kapoor) with Robin, a pecunious bare chasted Sindhi groom (Vikas Sharman). However, in real this wedding is a business deal and Isha’s father Bipin (Pankaj Kapoor) can only abide the decisions taken by Dadi. Alia (Alia Bhatt) is the adopted daughter of Bipin who never got any benevolence from Dadi. But no need to get emotional for Alia as she is bohemian, carefree and happy the way she is. Then enters Jagjinder Joginder (Shahid Kapoor), the wedding planner for this grandiose wedding. But the quirk part is despite extreme dislike Bipin has to bare Jagjinder because of Dadi and his anxiety reaches to another level when he gets the vibes of Jagjinder and Alia coming closer. The bond between these two gets more enduring when they come to know about the common problem between them that is insomnia.

After watching the movie Queen which was a way simple and innocent and touched our hearts whereas this extravaganza destination wedding has very less to talk about. The father-son duo do scintillate some scenes, but most of the excerpt runs on a brainless track. Pankaj Kapoor is amazingly a super actor and plays his role adeptly. Shahid is the only reason, one should go for this movie. Undoubtedly, he performs every scene dexterously but his demeanors are stupifying. For the very first time, Shahid and Alia are paired together and this fresh jodi looks enamoring with each other. Alia is frolicsome and that’s what her role demanded. Shahid’s sister Sanah Kapoor is debuting from this movie and has played her part efficaciously. She is definitely going to charm the audience with her splendid performance. You’ll watch Sushma Seth on silver screens after a very long time and she fits in effortlessly in the role of matriarch Dadi.

Everybody in this movie has played their role fairly well except the script writer, the story is brainlessly hopping from one scene to other. If you still want to watch this movie then please don’t stress your brain in the movie hall, asking what, why and how, just enjoy watching your favorite actor on silver screen.
